 Jacobean Crewel Work
DESCRIPTION
Come along and learn the stitches and techniques of the Jacobeans keeping the old traditions
alive then in the same session bring them into the 21st Century! Using inspirational packs
from Aztec Threads and fabrics from Stitchcraft .You can stitch onto Twills, Linens, Silks and
Blanket felt. Create a book of samples or your very own cushion front. Please bring with you
a basic sewing kit including Chenille Needles, scissors, pins, fabric marker pens and your
favourite wools, threads and fabrics for stitching. A selection of threads and fabrics will be
available for Sale on the day.

  Block of the Month 1
DESCRIPTION
Each month we will be exploring a different block and a different technique. These blocks
can be assembled into a Sampler Quilt in time for Christmas or can be upscaled and used
to make Cushion Fronts or Bags. At each workshop finishing instructions will be given
based on your choice.
Detailed below is an outline of workshop with fabric requirements to make a 18”x18”
block that can be used for a Bag or Cushion, less fabric will be needed for the 12”x12”
block for the quilt but you will still need the same number of contrasting colours and
background.

Block – Rail Fence
Technique – Pin Tucks
Fat Quarter Fabric Requirements (These can be purchased on the day or you can bring
your own selection)

EVENT TITLE   
 Free Motion Embroidery Techniques (suitable for all)
DESCRIPTION
In this class the absolute beginner will learn the machine set up, types of threads and
fabrics to use as well as the straight stitch and zig-zag stitch techniques.
The confident beginner will advance further to “drawing” techniques. The intermediate
will progress to cut work techniques and the advanced will tackle perspectives and
shadows. Demonstrations will be given to all. A small piece may be completed in class, but
the items made will be largely samples.

Free Motion Next steps (again suitable for all)
DESCRIPTION
In this class we will aim to complete a picture ready for finishing. Following a design
session, we will create a scene bringing it to life with the clever use of sheers, fabrics,
wools, slips and stitches both by hand or by machine.

Spring/Summer Table Runner
DESCRIPTION
Using patchwork piecing, quilting and binding techniques make this lovely table runner
in time for Summer Al fresco dining. Using a panel supplied by Aztec threads and your
own choice of 4 fat quarters this will make a beautiful Spring/summer addition to any
outdoor setting.

Aztec Threads in collaboration with Donna Munday bring you a selection of Creative Workshops at

Items to bring to class your own Sewing Machine if class requires machine sewing.
Please also bring along a basic sewing kit including needles, scissors, pins and fabric markers and rotary cutters
and mats if you have them.

All workshops will have coffee and cake included, however No Lunch however there is a café on site at Mabel’s
for you to buy your own.

Small classes of 6 - 8 people     Minimum Class Number is 4 people to enable the class to run
